There’s something magical about the way butter transforms when it’s infused with fresh herbs and fragrant garlic. It becomes more than just a spread—it’s a flavor-packed secret weapon for everything from crusty bread to sizzling steaks.

As a homeschooling mama of 5, I know that one of the greatest struggles is not just “doing school” with my kiddos, but what to feed them throughout the day! So I am starting a new section on my blog all about recipes! I hope to get several homemade seasonings and flavored butters up first, and then build into my main meals, snacks and desserts!

This garlic herb butter is one of my family’s favorites to use on my freshly milled sourdough bread! It’s such a simple recipe, but it’s now I have found to be great for snacking, to bring to a get together or to put out for a special holiday or event! Health Benefits of Butter

Before we get any further, I do want to say that butter gets a bad reputation, but it is actually healthy for you when you purchase real grass-fed butter! Healthline.com has a whole article about the health benefits of real butter!

My main takeaways from the article are:

  1. Grass-fed butter is made from the milk of cows that graze on pasture or are fed fresh grass.
  2. Grass-fed butter is higher in many nutrients than butter from cows fed processed, grain-based feeds or conserved grass.
  3. Butter is a rich source of several vitamins — especially fat-soluble ones.
  4. The following vitamins are found in high amounts in butter:
    • Vitamin A. It’s the most abundant vitamin in butter. One tablespoon (14 grams) provides about 11% of the Reference Daily Intake (RDI) (2Trusted Source).
    • Vitamin D. Butter is a good source of vitamin D.
    • Vitamin E. A powerful antioxidant, vitamin E is often found in fatty foods.
    • Vitamin B12. Also called cobalamin, vitamin B12 is only found in foods of animal or bacterial origin, such as eggs, meat, dairy products, and fermented food.
    • Vitamin K2. A form of vitamin K, this vitamin — also called menaquinone — may protect against heart disease and osteoporosis (13Trusted Source14Trusted Source15Trusted Source).
